The 5 times table
The clock table: every answer ends in 5 or 0, and the minutes on a clock count in 5s.

Play the 5 times table
Every question uses the 5s. Pick a game, answer ten, and watch the 5s grow in your garden.
Owl Post
Thena’s owl has letters to deliver. Each door has a sum on it: pick the letter with the answer and light up the village.

How to learn the 5 times table
- 1
Half of the 10s
5 × 8 is half of 10 × 8. Half of 80 is 40. Any 5s fact is half the 10s fact next to it.
- 2
5 or 0
Every answer ends in 5 or 0: 5 lots of an odd number ends in 5, 5 lots of an even number ends in 0.
- 3
Read the clock
Each number on a clock face is 5 more minutes: the 3 is 15 minutes, the 9 is 45. Learning the 5s and telling the time help each other.
The pattern in the 5s
The last digit of each answer, from 5 × 1 to 5 × 12. They go round in a loop of 2, so once your child spots it, they can check any answer.

Questions parents ask
How can my child learn the 5 times table?
Five minutes a day beats an hour on Sunday. Start with the facts they already know from other tables (turn 5 × 2 round and it’s 2 × 5), then learn one trick: it’s half of the 10 times table. Then play: answering from memory, again and again, is what makes facts stick, and a game makes them want to.
When do children learn the 5 times table?
Children count in 5s in Year 1 and learn the 5 times table in Year 2, in England’s National Curriculum.
What is the hardest fact in the 5 times table?
Children rarely struggle here, though the odd numbers (5 × 7 = 35, 5 × 9 = 45) need more practice than the even ones.
Is the 5 times table game free?
Yes. Every game here is free, with no account, no adverts and no timer. Progress is kept on this device only. Thena, the AI teacher who made them, has lessons for children that start with 3 free.
