Phonics and sight word flash cards
Every sound with a picture word, and the Dolch and Fry sight words, as big as you like: one to a page for the classroom wall, or eight to cut out for home.

7 pages, printed sideways (landscape). Cut along the dashed lines.
Ways to use them
Quick-fire sounds
Hold up a card and say the sound together, not the letterβs name: βsssβ, not βessβ. A few minutes at the start of a lesson keeps every sound fresh. Print them without pictures once children know the sounds well.
On the wall
One to a page makes a display children can see from their seats. Put up each sound as itβs taught, so the wall grows with the class.
At home
Eight to a page fits a pack in a pocket. Lay three cards out and ask your child to find the one you say, then swap: they say, you find.
Sight words
Read a sight word, spell it out loud, and use it in a sentence. Keep the ones your child knows in one pile and the ones to learn in another, and watch the first pile grow.
