Admissions
The test
The Slough Consortium 11+, set by GL Assessment for the Slough Consortium of Grammar Schools (Herschel, Langley, St Bernard's and Upton Court): one test for all four schools, two papers of about 60 to 65 minutes covering verbal and non-verbal reasoning, English and maths.
What qualifies
Only children scoring 111 or above (the top 35% of those tested) are considered; places then go by faith category, and within each category pupil premium children come first, then the rest in order of test score. For 2026 entry, every eligible on-time applicant in categories 1 to 7 was offered a place, as were category 8 applicants scoring 113 and above who lived within 15.093 miles of the school.
Who gets priority
After children with an EHCP naming the school: 1 looked after and previously looked after children; 2 practising baptised Catholics with a priest's reference or Certificate of Catholic Practice; 3 other baptised Catholics; 4 baptised or dedicated children of other Christian churches with a religious leader's reference; 5 other baptised or dedicated Christian children; 6 children of other faiths at one of four Catholic primaries in St Peter's Pastoral Area (Holy Family, Our Lady of Peace, St Anthony's, St Ethelbert's) who live in Slough; 7 children of other faiths at those schools who live elsewhere; 8 children of other faiths with a religious leader's reference; 9 other children of other faiths; 10 any other children. There is no catchment area and no sibling priority; ties go to the child living nearest, then by lot.
Registering
Online through the Consortium portal (https://slough.applicaa.com/entry2027) from 10am on Friday 1 May to 10am on Friday 5 June 2026; the test was on Saturday 19 September 2026 and results came out from 4pm on 15 October 2026. Families applying here also had to complete the school's online Supplementary Form (https://stbernardsslough.applicaa.com/year7SI) as well as the home council's Common Application Form, both by 31 October 2026.
Open events
The Open Evening for September 2027 entry was on 23 September 2026, with pupil-led tours. The school calendar lists Tours of the School (Open Morning) on 30 June 2027.
Good to know
Voluntary aided Catholic grammar school (Diocese of Northampton), mixed 11 to 18; it calls itself the only co-educational Catholic grammar school in the country. The sixth form takes its own qualifying Year 11 plus a minimum of 20 external students (boys and girls), with pupil premium students second in its oversubscription order. Without the Supplementary Form a child is ranked as 'any other children'; a Certificate of Catholic Practice is accepted in place of the priest's reference. The 2027 categories are unchanged from 2026. The applicant figure counts every Common Application Form naming the school (704 had scored 111 or more; Slough Borough Council's table gives 1,026 preferences). Offers come on 1 March 2027, and families can appeal a refusal but not the score.
