Admissions
The test
The Redbridge 11+, run by the London Borough of Redbridge with papers from GL Assessment: two papers, English and verbal reasoning, and maths and non-verbal reasoning. The same test is used for Woodford County High School (girls).
What qualifies
Boys need at least the minimum threshold score of 104 to be ranked at all; places then go in order of total standardised score. The last on-time offer to a boy in the Common Catchment Area for 2026 entry scored 106.02 (109.35 in 2025, 108.72 in 2024, 111.38 in 2023), and 398 of the 998 boys who sat scored 104 or more.
Who gets priority
Looked-after and previously looked-after children; 45 places (25%) for Pupil Premium children (including Ever 6), ranked by score; other boys living in the 11+ Common Catchment Area shared with Woodford County High, ranked by score; then boys outside it, ranked by score. Ties go to the shortest safe walking distance, then random allocation; there is no sibling priority, and the council says only children in the Common Catchment Area have been admitted in the last 10 years.
Registering
Online through a My Redbridge account from 1 May 2026 to 5pm on Monday 15 June 2026, with no late registrations. The test was on Friday 18 September 2026, with results emailed in mid-October; families must also name the school on the Common Application Form by 31 October 2026.
Open events
An open evening for Year 5 families was held on 30 April 2026, the day before test registration opened. The sixth form open evening is on Wednesday 11 November 2026 (3:30pm to 7pm).
Good to know
A boys' grammar school and a community school, so Redbridge Council is the admission authority and sets the arrangements. The council tells families each boy's overall position by score before the 31 October deadline (not a guarantee of an offer), and offers come on or about 1 March 2027. The sixth form takes at least 30 external students; its policy describes ICHS as a boys' school and does not mention girls. The applicants figure is boys who sat the Redbridge test for 2026 entry (814 of them lived in the Common Catchment Area), not applications.
