The papers

Queen Elizabeth's School (boys): two multiple-choice papers, English and Mathematics, in one session, marked electronically and age-standardised by the test provider. The Henrietta Barnett School (girls): Round One is a verbal, non-verbal and English test set by a nationally recognised body (the school points to GL Assessment's familiarisation booklets); the top 300 sit Round Two, English and Mathematics at Key Stage 2 level, and the two rounds are combined for the final ranking. St Michael's Catholic Grammar School (girls): four tests on one day, by invitation only: Verbal Reasoning, Non-Verbal Reasoning and Mathematics (multiple choice; its familiarisation papers are GL Assessment's) and a written English paper; the school publishes no timings.

Good to know

Late testing and moving to the area

Queen Elizabeth's: a reserve date for illness or a Year 6 residential trip, with evidence. Henrietta Barnett: a supplementary Round One date about a week later for illness (doctor's certificate within two working days); a late entry form may not be accommodated, and if places remain with no ranked candidates the school sets a further test. St Michael's: late applications are not accepted.

Who runs admissions

Each school is its own admission authority (St Michael's is voluntary aided); families apply on their home local authority's common application form, with Barnet coordinating under the Pan-London scheme.
