Draw a line from each word to its picture. Then write each missing sound.
Ask your child to say each picture’s word out loud before they write or draw anything: hearing the sounds is the skill, and the writing comes after. If a picture could be two things, tell them the word.
Each phase uses only the sounds taught by then, in the order most schools in England teach them, so a sheet from your child’s phase will feel familiar.
Play the phonics games, where Thena says every sound, or print a sound mat to keep beside the sheet.
Split words into their sounds: draw the sound buttons under each word, or write each sound in a box of its own.
Read, trace and write each word on handwriting lines, or find them all in a word search.
One table or a mix, up to 12 × 12, with missing numbers and an answer sheet.
The times tables backwards, one table at a time or mixed.
Bonds to 10, 20 and 100, as part-whole models and missing numbers.
From adding within 10 to column addition with exchanging.
From taking away within 10 to column subtraction with exchanging.
In Thena’s lessons every sound is said clearly, and children tap, blend and read with her, at their own level.
