Admissions

The test

The Trafford Grammar School Consortium test set by GL Assessment, shared by Altrincham Grammar School for Boys, Altrincham Grammar School for Girls, Sale, Stretford and Urmston: two tests of about one hour each in verbal reasoning, non-verbal reasoning and maths (content up to the start of Year 6).

What qualifies

The qualifying score is 334 (or 334R after review); for pupil premium candidates it is 324. A local review is open to pupil premium candidates scoring 321 to 323 and to others scoring 321 to 333, and a successful review raises the score to 334R.

Who gets priority

Category A: EHCPs naming the school, then looked after and previously looked after children. B: about 15 places for the highest-scoring pupil premium applicants regardless of distance; C: about 20 places for the top scorers regardless of where they live; D: children of staff with 8 or more continuous years; E: siblings on roll on the test day, regardless of address; F: about 120 places by straight-line distance, M41 and M31 postcodes first, then everyone else.
