Admissions
The test
The Bexley Selection Test, run by the London Borough of Bexley with papers from Quest Assessments: two multiple-choice papers of about 50 minutes each, covering verbal ability and English comprehension, numerical reasoning and non-verbal reasoning.
What qualifies
Boys must be deemed selective: a total weighted age-standardised score (average 200) at or above the selective score Bexley Council sets each year with the four grammar schools, which is not published as a number. The school's policy says it would be content to offer places to boys scoring at least 212, which it describes as the mark below which places have historically not been offered on the Bexley Test.
Who gets priority
Selective boys in this order: looked-after and previously looked-after children; boys with one of Bexley's highest 180 scores; siblings at the school; children of permanent staff; up to 12 places for boys eligible for Pupil Premium or free school meals, by distance; then straight-line distance to the east entrance on Hartford Road (ties within 0.001 mile go to the higher score). Boys selective in the Kent (Dartford) 11+ and within 5 marks of the Bexley pass come after these; the last place on National Offer Day 2026 went at 6.665 miles.
Registering
Online with the London Borough of Bexley from 1 March to midnight on 31 March 2026, with no late registrations and no appeal. The test was sat between 2 and 10 September 2026 at primary schools acting as test centres, or 7 to 10 September 2026 at the four grammar schools, with results emailed from 4pm on Friday 2 October 2026; families then name the school on their home council's Common Application Form by 31 October 2026.
Open events
Ticketed tours with a talk by the Headteacher for Year 6 families on 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 16 October 2026 (mornings from 9:30am, afternoons from 2:30pm), booked through TicketSource from 10am on Monday 7 September 2026.
Good to know
A boys' grammar school with a mixed sixth form: at least 183 Year 12 places for external boys and girls, applications by 4pm on 31 January 2027. The supplementary form (siblings, staff children, free school meals or Pupil Premium, and the Kent test route) is due by 30 October 2026 under the policy, though the school's web page says 31 October. Offers come on 1 March 2027 and appeals must be lodged by 4pm on 26 March 2027.
